Welcome to mixed Reception (F2) and Year 1

Our Teacher is Mrs Whitehouse, Mrs Noble and our Teaching Assistant is Miss Corbin. This year we have a mixed Reception and Year One class and so we work closely with the whole of the Foundation Stage and the Year One Team.

Every day in our class is full of new experiences and learning opportunties. We follow the children's interest and teach the both the Foundation Stage and National Curriculum via activities that children find fun, thought provoking and interesting.

We will use Bramblebank Woods at least once a week to embrace our love of the outdoors, we will be den making, fire buiding, risk assessing, whittling and hurdling. This will continue throughout the year.

We will use Floorbooks to develop a collaborative approach to our learning. Children will be encouraged to develop sustained shared thinking and will be encouraged to use wonder questions as an approach to learning.

All of the activities are fun, child centred and embrace both the indoor and outdoor environment. Independent challenges and controlled risk taking are encouraged to develop resilience and perservance skills.

Useful Information

  • Our PE day is Thursday but it would be best if PE kits are left at school all week.
  • We will be going into Bramblebank Woods on a Monday afternoon. A change of clothes will be needed.
  • We ask for a contribution of £1.50 every half term for our snack provision.
