Autumn Term 2020

Keep checking back regularly for updates as we have an extremely busy term ahead for us in Year 3!

Year 3 have been loving using Power Maths this week. We have been looking at place value and identifying 100s, 10s and 1s. We have also been counting in 100s up to 1000 as well as using base ten equipment and part whole models to represent 100s numbers.

We have been creating our own zentangle patterns in art and using these to make our own hand self-portrait.

We looked at the properties of rocks and began identifying and classifying them according to the type of rock they were. We loved sketching our rocks too!

We have been exploring different ways of balancing using the apparatus including the use of higher apparatus.

Scavenger Hunt - We found an item for each letter of the alphabet on the school grounds. It was lots of fun!

Here we used air-drying clay to create stars and snowflakes. We painted them white with acrylic paint and turned them into Christmas decorations. They look beautiful!

Year 3 loved walking around Keadby as part of our local fieldwork project. We looked at human and physical features and identified important landmarks in the village. We are working on sketch maps, as well as looking at compass directions.

We applied our knowledge of balances from our previous lesson to investigate different ways of moving around the apparatus.

We made our very own "metamorphic rock". The heating of the chocolate and marshmallow represented the intense heat and pressure which changes rock.

Children in Need 2020

In Science, Y3 investigated the permeability of a range of substances.

We used colour mixing skills to create the colours which would represent those used in the Stone Age to create pieces of Cave Art.

We practiced our Batik skills and then applied our new skill to create a wonderful bag to take home. We were so proud of ourselves! We loved it.
