Spring Term 2017

Welcome back!

What an exciting 2017 we have planned…

This half term we will be reading How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell.
Our topic will be AD900 which incorporates learning about Vikings (one of my all-time favourite topics), and Mayans which I’m sure I can link some chocolate fun to!

In Vikings we will be learning about how a Viking travelled, debating whether they were brutal invaders or simply people looking for new homes, as well as learning about their day-to-day life and religious beliefs.

Whilst reading 'How to train your dragon', we will be linking our literacy lessons to Vikings and dragons through writing newspaper reports as well as developing our story writing skills.

In maths we will be working with shapes and angles, using statistics in a variety of situations and solving number problems.

In PE (on Friday afternoons) we will continue work on cross-country running skills as well developing our ball control skills, catching, fielding and batting.

Topic Work

Through science, we have been looking at archimedes principle of upthrust.

In our history unit, we will be researching The Vikings and Mayans, looking at their society and religious beliefs as well as looking at rading parties of Vikings and how they came to Keadby!
