Children at Althorpe and Keadby Primary School are given opportunities to learn about the past in exciting, memorable ways, enabling them to make connections through history. They are taught the National Curriculum objectives in each year group which may also link to their current topic.

Holocaust Memorial Day

The children sensitively took part in remembering the people who lost their lives in WWII. We had discussions in assembly then produced some powerful writing in class.

We spent a couple of weeks learning about a different area of WWII. The children in KS1 learned all about the Blitz. They tested materials to see which would be best to cover windows in a blackout, read 'The Lion and the Unicorn' by Shirley Hughes and produced some amazing writing. In KS2 children learnt abour what life was like for evacuees and soldiers. Across school we all learnt a song. Year 5's rendition of 'We'll meet again' was very beautiful indeed.
